There are four parts that make up Medicare which are referred to as Parts A, B, C and D. Part A provides inpatient/hospital coverage. Part B provides outpatient/medical coverage. Part C provides an alternative way of receiving your Medicare benefits. Lastly, Part D provides prescription coverage.
It is in your best interest to always understand all of your Medicare coverage choices, and to choose wisely.
Traditional Medicare allows you to go to nearly any doctor or hospital in the country, regardless if they are in-network or out-of-network.
Whereas, Medicare Advantage Plans usually have network restrictions (can be in-network only or HMO plans) which can limit the doctors and hospitals you can receive care at.
In other words, Traditional Medicare is your best option if you can afford the premiums, and you want to continue seeing your current primary doctor or specialist without any limitations on the care you are provided.
